Purpose
The primary function of our keyboard PCB hot-swap spring-loaded connectors is to enable solderless installation and replacement of keyboard switches.

Traditional Method: Mechanical switch metal pins must be permanently soldered to PCB pads. Switch replacement requires desoldering and resoldering with a soldering iron—a complex process that risks damaging the PCB.

Hot-Swap Method: A specialized metal spring clip (hot-swap switch mount) is pre-soldered onto the PCB. Users simply insert the mechanical switch’s pins directly into the corresponding spring clip holes. The spring clip’s elasticity clamps the pins securely, forming a stable electrical connection and physical fixation. To replace, use a switch puller to vertically lift the switch upward—no soldering required throughout the process.

Direct Benefits:

Significantly lowers the barrier to swapping switches: Enables ordinary users to easily and safely experiment with different switch tactile profiles (linear, tactile, varying actuation forces) and sounds, allowing personalized keyboard customization.

Simplifies maintenance: If a switch malfunctions (e.g., ghosting, failure), it can be replaced individually without requiring full PCB repair or replacement.

Fosters the custom keyboard culture: Making “switch swapping” as simple as swapping keycaps, it has become a core DIY activity for keyboard enthusiasts.
